The power of a "Now" page
I added a "Now" page and I think it's important to take some time to reflect on what it means to include this in my blog and how I plan to use it.
For context, the philosophy behind a "Now" page is to provide an overview of what your fellow blogger (that be me me) is currently up to. For me, it will be a space to share updates and insights about my personal life, hobbies, and future plans.
The beauty of a "Now" page, and a blog in general, is that everyone can create and update theirs according to their own personal guidelines. Here are mine!
- It's divided into three sections: Life, Hobbies, and Mind.
- Life: This section focuses on what’s happening in my personal and professional life.
- Hobbies: Here, I’ll post updates about (mostly) the games I’m playing or the books I’m reading. It could also include updates on learning new skills or working on small projects related to my hobbies.
- Mind: This is where I’ll share what’s going on in my head, ideas I can’t shake, and plans I have for the future.
- The Life section will include information I haven’t shared in my regular blog posts. For example, if I’m experiencing a major life event, I may write a dedicated post about it, but the Now page will serve as a space for ongoing updates about that event.
- There will be no archive for this page. Everything on the "Now" page will eventually be deleted and replaced with new updates. Otherwise, the page loses its purpose.
- I will update it at least once a month. To prevent the page from being neglected, I’m setting up monthly reminders right now.
- It's flexible. The page can also be used to track new habits, share interesting things I come across, or post quotes that resonate with me.
I believe having a "Now" page will help me stay more grounded in the present and accountable for the things I truly care about.
🙇 The present is all we have. Thanks for reading.
