Working for free is normalized
In the third world, it’s very common for certain careers—especially those related to the arts—to expect recent graduates to work for free for a while, with the promise of “making a name for themselves.” With the hope that their work will be seen, that they’ll eventually get noticed, and then they can actually start a career in their field.
I just want to say that this is one of the most fucking garbage things about this reality I was born into. The fact that it’s normalized disgusts me and makes me sick to my fucking stomach.
I don’t even feel like elaborating further.
